Eileen Zurbriggen is an Associate Professor of Psychology at the University of California, Santa Cruz. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Michigan, where she was a Visiting Associate Professor of Psychology and Women’s Studies in 2007-2008. She studies psychological processes related to the intersection or fusion of power and sexuality. Her research focuses on behaviors in which power and sex are linked (such as rape and sexual abuse), on psychological linkages between power and sex, and on media representations of sex and power. Her work has been funded by the National Institute of Mental Health and her findings have been published in numerous journals, including Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, Sex Roles, and Feminism and Psychology. She served as the chair of the Report of the American Psychological Association’s Task Force on the Sexualization of Girls and has been interviewed about the Task Force’s findings by numerous media outlets, including the BBC World Service, Radio Free Europe, ABC News, Bloomberg News and Australia’s SBS Television.
